Regional Lead (Interim)

Cynthia Martineau is the Regional Lead (Interim) in eastern Ontario, and Chief Executive Officer for the Central East, South East and Champlain LHINs.
Cynthia has more than 35 years of clinical and health system leadership experience. She joined the South East LHIN in 2007, as an integration consultant, and has since been involved in various key roles supporting health care. Specializing in system planning and community engagement, she has provided guidance for the development and implementation of health system plans, and brought critical leadership to complex initiatives at the LHIN.
Most recently, Cynthia was Vice President, Strategy Planning and Integration, and Acting Vice President, Home and Community Care in Ontario Health East. In this role, she ensured that patients are well-supported in their homes and communities. She was involved in many aspects of the health system, including supporting sub-region development, and representing Home and Community Care to multiple local and provincial collaborative initiatives. Recently, she was co-chair of the regional health-system coordination group for COVID-19 preparedness and response for the southeast region.
Prior to working at the LHIN, Cynthia served as a nursing officer in the Canadian Forces in various roles from clinical care to operational deployment oversight of all aeromedical evacuations. She deployed overseas twice: as a critical-care nurse with 1 Canadian Field Hospital during the Gulf War, and as an aeromedical evacuation team member supporting Canada’s mission in Rwanda. After 21 years of proud service, she retired as the Commanding Officer of 24 Canadian Forces Health Services Centre at the military base in Trenton, Ontario.
Cynthia holds a Master of Sciences in Health Science as well as the CHE designation since 2003 with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives.
